Back from a big week of Aus DeFi with our Sydney event getting under way last Wednesday. Some great highlights shared by Chantra Hang from Vield and their Q1 update and Liam Thomson from Stables with what’s going on over there as well as others like Renee Francis and Phillip Raymond Host from Take3 sharing their insights on stage.
We had Ariel from The Bull Market present at our Melbourne meetup last week and great to see the real world listings happening on their marketplace

If you missed it, the replay is here
Also great to jump on the Independent Reserve Podcast a few months ago and share some thoughts on blockchain and AI with Lee and John
Various groups held halving parties last week too. Here's Elbaite and crew in Melbourne https://www.linkedin.com/posts/samira-tollo_bitcoinhalving2024-bitcoin-cryptocurrency-ugcPost-7188438500071952384-F7SI?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android
Archax, tokenising a Blackrock treasury fund on Hedera kicked off a large run up in HBAR token price but was mistook to mean having Blackrock on board Hedera. Though Hedera does have large banks as part of its governing council it was interesting to see community response to this (some negative ones unfortunately) but the Archax CEO clarified things further here https://coingape.com/archax-ceo-clarifies-blackrock-role-in-hedera-tokenization/
Great to see Pratik from DigitalX on ausbiz talking about the halving https://ausbiz.com.au/media/why-the-bitcoin-halving-was-a-nonevent?videoId=35478
Ausbiz also got to see Bisher from Vield talking about the investment opportunities in crypto right now https://ausbiz.com.au/media/why-now-is-the-time-to-build-strong-crypto-positions?videoId=35533
During our Sydney meetup, I also got to present on a new article from us at NotCentralised hihglighting ways in which we can see benefits of blockchain driven economies but without the need for CBDCs https://notcentralised.com/central-bank-driven-blockchain-economies-without-cbdcs/
Not great for Binance in the Philippines as the SEC over there orders the removal of the app from Apple and Android stores https://cointelegraph.com/news/philippines-sec-apple-google-remove-binance-app-stores
Great to be in these little video snippets from our friends at Independent Reserve with whom I did an interview with late last year. Here’s one on regulation being better with blockchain and AI https://www.linkedin.com/posts/independent-reserve_will-ai-help-protect-us-against-crypto-scams-activity-7188700749197991937-wsGR?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
And another on AI hallucinations - the full episode is in the links too https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7188414227240349696/
Interesting analysis from Forbes on blockchain platforms. Harsh but deserved perhaps? Time to do better https://www.linkedin.com/posts/jamieburke_forbes-publishes-a-good-for-nothing-blockchain-activity-7190024684845834240-dsmB?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android
Finally, we’ll leave you with this bit of good news for the industry with Stripe bringing back crypto payments https://www.linkedin.com/posts/amy-rose_payments-crypto-blockchain-ugcPost-7189468621243322368-TBDX?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android
See you next week, folks, for another round of highlights!
About Aus DeFi Association
The Australian DeFi Association (Aus DeFi) is a non-profit community organisation dedicated to increasing education and awareness of blockchain technology, specifically decentralised finance (DeFi) and web3-based projects. Their goal is to empower the Australian community with the knowledge and tools to participate in the decentralised economy, and to promote the adoption and growth of blockchain technology in Australia. They strive to provide a more grassroots approach to promoting blockchain technology compared to other industry-focused organisations in Australia, and to provide a platform for community members to learn about and engage with this emerging technology.
